History of ( BCCW )

The Bangladesh Council for Child Welfare (BCCW) officially it was declared by the then organizers as the confederation of the famous and established voluntary Children Organization of the Country on 14th September 1957 under the name of East Pakistan Child Welfare Council. This voluntary Organization with the conviction of establishing the Rights of children and developing their delicate talents through various practices as real human beings. As such National Organization, makes a policy and gets its approval among itself. Since then ShishuKalabhaban, Children Library, World Children day Celebration, Children Rally, Dhaka base Children Disability Survey, Essential physiotherapy treatment training and workshop for necessary supportive devices of disabled with others various arrangements and activities are continuing.At present, a full-fledged 60 beds disabled Children hospital, Auxiliary brace workshop, and monthly Literary events, A wide variety of National and International days are celebrated with the participation of large numbers of children and adolescents, including Community based Child Development Project, Primary Schools for Disabled, Clinical Practices for Graduated physiotherapy students from different Institutes and Medical Colleges.Since its inception, the Council has been committed to enhancing and well-established its office and organizational capacity.The council office was first started in an abandoned old room of the then Civil Service Academy at Azimpur Party House. It was then rented a house at 41 Hatkhola Road, Dhaka.In the meantime, the then East Pakistan Government issued a Social department under the Ministry of Social Welfare, The Council applied for official registration. [Voluntary Social Welfare Agencies Ordinance, 1961( Registration & Control XLVI of -1961)].In light of this, East Pakistan Council for Child Welfare was registered on 24 November 1962.In registration number 201 of 1962.The registration process started in 201, as the council is the first Government registered Voluntary Social welfare Organization in the Country.In the meanwhile, by purchasing land from the Government at market price, the office was gradually set up at 22/1, Topkhana Road, Dhaka 1000, and various activities were started.After the Independence of the country, a constitution was formulated and the name of the Council was changed to “Bangladesh ShishuKallyanParishad “, In short, “ShishuKallyanParishad”. The Council is named “ Bashikop” for telegraph, Seal, or Monogram.In 1974-75, A full constitution was approved by the Executive Council. It was later published in print in the 1986 working year.Contacts were then initiated with the Government’s registering Authority to ensure the new naming of the council.After examining the Authority, on 28th August 1980, Bangladesh issued a Re-Registration order for Bangladesh ShishuKalyanParishad, 22/1, Topkhana Road, Dacca-2 replacing East Pakistan Council for Child Welfare 41, Hatkhola, Dacca, leaving the registration number 201 unchanged as a National organization.A constitution subcommittee was formed at the meeting on 9th January 2001. The Committee started drafting the constitution as per the demand of the Council.At the general meeting held on 8th September 2007, for the first time, a full-fledged constitution was approved. Attempts were made to get the constitution approved by the Department of Social services as a National Voluntary Social Welfare Organization through 8 September 2007 initiatives.From then on, there was a long communication and discussion with the Social Service department of the Government, According to their demand, various documents and evidence were submitted.In this way, after four (4) more years of effort, the first approved constitution of the council come to light on 23rd December 2014. The proposed amendment to the constitution presented at this meeting was approved by consensus the number of members on the executive councils is 25 and the term of office is 3 years was approved by the government registration authority on 7th March 2019 and it was subsequently published.
